How to add local delivery to your online store (Australia)

If you sell to your local area - a suburb, a town, a few nearby postcodes - offering local delivery and pickup on your online store is one of the fastest ways to grow sales. Here's how to do it simply, in Australia, without paying for a stack of apps.

1. Decide your delivery area

Start with the suburbs or postcodes you can realistically deliver to. You can charge a flat fee, a fee per zone, or offer free delivery over a certain order value. Keep it simple - most local businesses run 2-4 delivery zones.

2. Set per-suburb fees (and a free-over threshold)

Charging the same delivery fee everywhere either loses you money on far suburbs or scares off close ones. Per-suburb (or per-postcode) fees fix that. A "free delivery over $X" threshold is one of the easiest ways to lift average order value.

3. Offer pickup as well

Not everyone needs delivery. Farm-gate, shopfront or market-stall pickup costs you nothing and suits customers who are nearby. List every pickup point and let customers choose at checkout.

4. Make it work at checkout

The customer enters their address, the right delivery fee is calculated automatically, and they pay. No spreadsheets, no manual quoting.

Do it without apps

On most platforms this means bolting on paid delivery apps. On Invictus, delivery zones, per-suburb fees, free-over thresholds and pickup locations are built in - set up in minutes, no add-ons. See how it works for nurseries & farms or market stallholders.
